As I was doing some Celebrity Explorer and Traveler errands the other day, I was reminded of how Mario Andretti and I were at our good friends Emerson Fittipaldi’s birthday party awhile back and Emerson comes up to chat with Mario and in the course of the conversation he mentions that the Wankel Rotary Engine was invented by Hans Wankel in the 1950’s. After he left to visit with the other party goers, I said to Mario "you and I both know the Wankel Rotary Engine was invented by Felix Wankel, why didn’t you say something?"

Mario then told me something I will never forget, he said "You know Bruce,  most times kindness is better than truth."

He was right. And whats more, he went on to explain "This is his birthday, his party, it’s his day - let him have his day."

So in honor of my good friends Mario and Emerson, I invite you to:

Take The McToose Challenge #17.

Don’t correct anyone for 24 hours.

You will be surprised how difficult this will be, and you will also become aware of how much time people spend correcting other people about trivial things. Do your best and see how long you can go, and then try to extend this non-correcting exersise to 2 days and then 3 and then a week. Don’t worry if you don’t make it too far at first, just be aware of it and start fresh again. Perhaps find a buddy and make a pact to help each other for the first day. See if makes a difference to other people and how it makes you feel.

That sure is a tough challenge Bruce!! It seems like this is a great act of kindness, so I think I'll give it a try! Thanks for the challenge!

I had a hard time going one hour. Talk about self dicipline. It's really a curse... this being right all the time.
