G'day all,
During my travels last week I caught the last few notes of "Telephone Line" By the Electric Light Orchesta and was reminded of a day back in 1978 or 77 when I was sitting back stage with Jeff Lynne.
I remember I was moaning to him about something that had happened on my last trip, something about a mis-directed bag or another earth shattering event, and he said to me:
"You know Bruce, nobody wants to hear your whining. First of all, you've got one of the greatest gigs around. Traveling around the world, meeting unique and diverse people, making friends on every country on earth, sharing in their culture. You get to sample food from all over and see places most people only read about. And secondly, you're BRINGING ME DOWN. So think about what you say before you start complaining to me or anyone else and don't bring me down Bruce!"
I always remembered what he said. And I try to put that into practice, even though it's not always easy. Complaining is a very contageous thing and it's easy to get caught up in it. So for this week, try to be complain-free. It will be harder than you think and you will find that you will be aware that some people complain A LOT. But give it the old college try and see if it makes a difference in your attitude, your job and your main squeeze. Till then, Have a G'day.

As I was doing some Celebrity Explorer and Traveler errands the other day, I was reminded of how Mario Andretti and I were at our good friends Emerson Fittipaldi’s birthday party awhile back and Emerson comes up to chat with Mario and in the course of the conversation he mentions that the Wankel Rotary Engine was invented by Hans Wankel in the 1950’s. After he left to visit with the other party goers, I said to Mario "you and I both know the Wankel Rotary Engine was invented by Felix Wankel, why didn’t you say something?"
Mario then told me something I will never forget, he said "You know Bruce, most times kindness is better than truth."
He was right. And whats more, he went on to explain "This is his birthday, his party, it’s his day - let him have his day."
So in honor of my good friends Mario and Emerson, I invite you to:
Take The McToose Challenge #17.
Don’t correct anyone for 24 hours.
You will be surprised how difficult this will be, and you will also become aware of how much time people spend correcting other people about trivial things. Do your best and see how long you can go, and then try to extend this non-correcting exersise to 2 days and then 3 and then a week. Don’t worry if you don’t make it too far at first, just be aware of it and start fresh again. Perhaps find a buddy and make a pact to help each other for the first day. See if makes a difference to other people and how it makes you feel.
Till next time, G’day and Happy Birthday Emerson.

While I was going about my business of being a celebrtiy explorer and traveler the other day, I was reminded of a conversation I had a while back with my good friend Pele. We were chatting about the different places we had visited and I commented that it seemed that everywhere he went, people were always glad to see him. He chuckled and told me something I never forgotten. he said "Y'know Bruce I've be fortunate to travel all over the world like you, and I've always found that no matter where you go or who you have to deal with, if you start your conversation witha smile and a kind word, you chances of having a pleasant encounter increase dramaticly"
I've always remembered what my friend said, and I try to put it into practice every day. Now that doesn't mean that it works 100 percent of the time, but I have found that like Pele said, my chances of something good happening go up quite a bit with just those two simple things. A smile and a kind word.
So if you want to have a G'day, think of my mate Pele said and try it yourself. You may be surprised. Pleasantly.
Have a G'day,
Bruce

G’day,
If there is one thing I have learned in all my years as a Celebrity Traveler and Explorer, it that you are more powerful than you might think. Specifically, the words you say can have an effect on people long after they are spoken. Let me give you an example.
A while back, I was going about my normal day of traveling and exploring, when who did I happen upon but my good friend Cindy Crawford. When she saw me, she gave me that smile of hers and said “Hi Bruce, hey, that’s a sharp looking vest you’ve got on there.”
Now I never thought of that vest as anything special at the time, but now whenever I put it on I think of Cindy and say to myself “That’s a sharp looking vest Bruce”.
Even though this happen quite awhile ago, I will always remember those kind words. So please remember to choose your word carefully, because they are powerful and can last a lifetime.
Until next time, have a G’day,
Bruce
