As of today (10/1/07 11 am), 26-year-old acoustic guitarist Andy McKee
has four videos in the YouTube “All-Time, Top-Rated Music Videos Top
Ten List."
(Trailing behind are Kelly Clarkson, Eric Clapton, Guns’n’Roses, and
Linkin Park ….and they only have one.)

In less than a year, raves on YouTube have helped launch 26-year-old
guitarist Andy McKee into the international spotlight. In addition to
the Music category, his acoustic guitar videos have set up residence in
YouTubes “All Time” lists for any videos – where they exist with
dancing animations, cute babies and Paris Hilton’s latest faux pas.

Andy McKee is surging to the forefront of the world of fingerstyle
acoustic guitar playing (that means no guitar picks). It’s a world
presided over by an elite group of solo guitarists that wield a heady
virtuosity over their instruments. McKee’s mentor, guitar virtuoso Don
Ross, calls him “the most textural player of the instrument since
Michael Hedges. He creates sonic architecture worthy of the great
modern composers for any instrument.”

McKee's mesmerizing guitar playing will be featured in an intimate
performance at Maine's new premier acoustic listening room, The Maple
Room, in Lewiston on October 13. His mentor, Don Ross, is touring with
McKee and will play an opening set at the Maple Room performance along
with fellow finger-style guitarist Craig D'Andrea. The Maple Room is a
smoke-free, all-ages venue, serving organic and natural treats in the
lobby during intermissions. For more info, call 1-866-901-1036.

Andy McKee is available for interviews.

Named Denver's Best Singer/Songwriter in 2006 and 2007 by both the editors and fans of Westword (Colorado's biggest alt-weekly and sister publication to the Village Voice and others), Angie Stevens is a passionate, soulful alt-country artist who performs with the power of a freight train: Patty Griffin coupled with Janis Joplin.

Stevens is sponsored by Coors and Cowgirlpunk Clothing. Her song, "Sleepwalking," was recently featured on HBO's "Big Love." Her video, "Stand Up Girl," (filmed during her August 2006 concert at Red Rocks) was a "Pick of the Week" on Country Music Television's "Top 20 Video Countdown" show. And in September 2007 she returned to Red Rocks to perform as part of the first-ever Monolith Festival, sharing the bill with Cake, The Flaming Lips, The Decemberists, Spoon, Kings of Leon, Art Brut, Clap Your Hands, Say Yeah, and other notable national and international bands.

You can hear and read more about her at these two locations (different info and songs at each):
http://www.myspace.com/angiestevens

You can read more about her life's story in this Westword feature article:

Here are just some of the many accolades she has received:

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT ANGIE STEVENS

"Go on: Just try to find a single soul who's seen Angie Stevens live and not been completely entranced. ... Hell, she's so compelling, we're pretty sure that her earnest acoustic-based rock could win over a Cephalic Carnage crowd. Bolstered by songs that are often chillingly poignant ('Judy,' for example, a song about her mother), Stevens makes the icicles form on your spine the minute she takes the stage." Westword's Best of Denver 2006

"With a songwriting acumen that is stunning for a 25-year-old and a gorgeous, warm voice that seemingly can do anything, Stevens is an artist who earns fans on the first listen or show. [She] is one of the best voices and songwriters I've heard in a long time, local or otherwise. She is a superb talent." Mark Brown, Rocky Mountain News

"Angie Stevens is a master of both recording and stage and will engage you personally like only a handful of artists can do. ... 'I'm Okay' is a do-it-yourself masterpiece: a star that shines this brightly won't be a secret long." Russ Christiansen, Xposur magazine.

"The best female singer/songwriter to ever come out of Denver." Jay Ruybal, Marketing Program Manager, Red Rocks Amphitheater

"She has a sick voice, eh?" Joe Sakic, Colorado Avalanche

"Angie's voice knocks audiences over like a sledge-hammer!" Matt Fecher, Executive Director, Monolith Festival

"'I'm Okay' is a colossal CD. ... Country, blues, rootsrock, bluegrass, and honky-tonk, Angie Stevens combines them into a lovely whole. She writes beautiful intimate songs which have a strong autobiographical character. ... Remember that name: Angie Stevens." ROOTSTIME, Belgium

"Your album is like 'whoa'! Sounds great on the radio!" Michael McCartney, KEAO / KONI / KPMW / KTOH, Hawaii

"Totally sincere. And with the gift and feeling for an arresting melody." Patrick Donners, Hanx, Netherlands

"[Angie's concert at Red Rocks] was one of the most emotionally moving events I've been witness to in a very long time." Chris K, KRFC, Fort Collins, CO.

"'Stand Up Girl' can't help but be the much-needed soundtrack for those of us who are finding the bubblegum, over-produced pop tunes of MTV's 'Total Request Live' unfit for dealing with real life problems." Page Bayless, Marquee magazine

"She sure sounds like a future star based on a listen to her two recent 'Stand Up Girl' EPs: She can sing, she can write, and she can even rock. Jewel would kill to be this good." Shay Quillen, San Jose Mercury News

"Her music not only exposes but expresses the human condition." CORE magazine

"['Stand Up Girl'] would fit perfectly on any current radio play-list ... the tight performances and production here should please discerning country-pop fans." John Wenzel, Denver Post

"We were just blown away by her talent. She shows such passion for music and ... well.. I just don't know what to say. I would drag every friend I know to her future shows. It was truly a spiritual performance. [She] really changed my life tonight. I'm so inspired I can't sleep." Eric Fletcher, publisher, Colorado Music Buzz magazine

"She's a got a bubblegum rock voice, but she ain't singin' bubblegum, she's amazing." Steve Thorpe, Panache magazine

"['I'm Okay'] sits comfortably alongside the work of a number of recent young traditionalists, such as Mindy Smith and Kasey Chambers. ... such an accomplished debut ..." Jenny Shank, New West Network

"She accomplishes in three minutes what I spend entire novels doing, she does it better, and groups of tattooed women go-go dance on bartops when she does." Rob Callahan, writer and former KVSC (St. Cloud MN) DJ

"Words,' a sweeping, radio-ready opus, opens disc one, and Stevens doesn't let go of her hold on listeners until disc two draws to a close." Matthew R. Perrine, Duluth Budgeteer

"Stevens starts 'Words' by creating a world with her gorgeous voice ... Live staple 'Favorite Rerun' shakes the roadhouse and 'Baby Toes' is a rockabye that would make Shawn Mullins envious." John Hansen, Brainerd Dispatch

"The toast of Denver has a bittersweet country-folk voice and a way with words." Jon Bream, Minneapolis Star-Tribune

"... intrigues you with hints of Janis Joplin or maybe even a young Grace Slick." Ed Skibbe, Enfuse magazine

The Maple Room presents Colorado Folk Sensation Scott Von
Thursday, October 11 at 7:30
Tickets: $25. Available online at www.themapleroom.info and at the door.
1-866-901-1036

“A solo John Hiatt with an invisible funk section...”
“So here I am standing around at this Folk Festival stage where there
were a bevy of singer-songwriters being competently above average when
this guy takes, and then absolutely rules the stage in the space of
half of a first verse. All back-of-the-room conversation stopped,
including mine, and I heard whispers go from “who is this guy?” to
“where can I see him again?” That was my first Scott Von experience,
and I’m a fan for life, and I DO this for a living…..” - Vance
Gilbert

Coloradan Scott Von creates his music at the crossroads where American
roots music meets contemporary folk (with a serious nod to the
intricacies of jazz composition). His boot-stompin’ songs and
percussive guitar playing have been wowing festival-goers all over the
Continental Divide. Be one of the first to welcome this hot new talent
on the Americana scene to the Pine Tree State!
In his two short years on the scene, Scott has opened for Americana
heavy hitters like Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey, Over the Rhine and The
Samples. He’s toured west of the Rockies and his hometown state of
Colorado extensively and performed at numerous festivals. He’s won
several songwriting awards and was asked to compose an original song
for The Olympic Torch Ceremony. Scott Von was featured on the 2007
Sundance Festival Music Sampler.
