It is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week (Feb. 24th - March 1st). We've recieved quite a few emails from viewers and volunteers asking us to spread the word about eating disorders.
One event in particular that I found interseting is this Friday, from 9am-5pm. It's called "The Great Jeans Giveaway". It encourages you to donate a pair of too-tight jeans. Why? So we can "embarce our genes", not "their" jeans. The event will also provide free confidential eating disorder screenings as well.
The clinic is in Cottonwood Heights at 7084 S., 2300 East, Suite 120. You can email info@wasatchfamilytherapy.com or call (801) 944-4555 ext. 5 and ask for Julie A. Hanks for more information. She's a clinical director for Wasatch Family Therapy.
This is part of a national campaign and the jeans that are donated will go to charity.
There are a couple of other community events this week. If you know of any that you'd like to share on this blog, let everyone know.
This is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart. If you have a personal story about your past or recent struggle with an eating disorder that you'd like to share...leave your thoughts below.
In today's society, women (even men) and young teens face a lot of pressure. Awareness will help slow the spread of the disease...

I start off every morning waking up our viewers, and it's always a pleasure! I'm happy to be part of Fox 13's Good Day Utah team. I anchor bright and early from 5 to 6 a.m. You can also catch me on the streets reporting for both GDU and Live at 11.
