Dear John McCain.  You blew it.  I applaud the fact that you chose a female for your VP candidate.  However, we know it was done for pure political reasons, we would expect nothing else.  But, is she the most qualified female you could find?  Are there not other females that at least have some experience that make them qualified to take over the Oval Office in case of an emergency?

Palin is only a two year governor in Alaska.  Nothing against Alaska but it is hardly the hot bed of domestic economic, social, cultural and political issues.  Other than being a female, what are her qualifications?  She is the former mayor of a town of 6,500 people.  New York City, Boston, Chicago, Detroit or L.A. might give a candidate some standing but Wasilla? Okay, she exposed some ethical issues on the Alaska gas and Oil Conservation Commission.  Again, not a major domestic or foreign policy issue. Palin’s husband works for an oil company.  Not a real plus.  She has five children, not a strong selling point either.  Having some run-ins with the state GOP is probably a plus but hardly a qualification for VP. Here is an interesting comment she made:

Larry Kudlow of CNBC’s “Kudlow & Co.” asked her about the possibility of becoming McCain's ticket mate.Palin replied: “As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day? I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question.”

John, if something were to happen to you how could you possibly expect Palin to become president?  Who would really be running the country if you became ill or incapacitated?  Do you sincerely think that a self-proclaimed “hockey mom” would be in a position to confront Putin, Iran, terrorism, a depressing economy and global climate change?  What do you expect her to do; challenge Russia to a snowmobile race and the winner takes the Georgia?

Maybe if she had been governor for four years and then a U.S. Senator she would be a good pick.  But I stated in earlier blogs that this election’s choice of VP candidates would be critical as to the outcome of the race.  You have chosen a candidate that is not, in my opinion, qualified to run this nation should you fall to ill health.  Should you become disabled, the power vacuum would be filled by those who have not led us into the twenty-first century with a strong sense of leadership or partnership with friends abroad.  Just because Palin is a woman that all females will flock to your support is very presumptive and naïve.

So Dear John, Americans deserve the best and I do not believe you have offered us the best in your choice for VP.  For what it is worth, I am now an official Obama/Biden supporter.

I could not have said it better myself!
I often wonder what is really going on with the Government? Do they really for for the citizens of the USA? Or are they employed by the Oil Industry? Only they use Americans money to get the things that they want. I don't see how staying dependent on Oil, is the way of the future.

If you enjoy being totally submissive to the Rulers of the USA.....VOTE OIL!

If you want CHANGE.........vote BARACK OBAMA!!!

Thanks. I will be doing more on this. The McCain camp has geared its campaign towards FEAR rather than vision. Remember, I am a registered Republican but this constant focus on patriotism reminds me of the rhetoric of the WW II era. Us versus them. Plus, oil is no longer an option-time to wake up! If McCain wins, we are in big trouble.

Well, you must be a Liberal Democrat if that is all takes for you to become a supporter of the Obama-Biden ticket....It is about time someone started talking about PATRIOTISM. What a dirty word.....It is us versus them...We have become soft and now the enemy is on our door step...no, it has entered our house....you are obviously a liar and an avid Obama supporter, and want it to look like you have "switched".....I am not totally for all of Sen. McCain's ideas, but the alternative is not an option for me....I like living in America not Amerika.........

p.s. just read your info page....who do you think you are fooling....with a background like that, you expect people to believe you were voting Republican.....I may be just one of those "uneducated" folks, but I am not totally stupid.....your info page gives you away....Left Wing Liberal Democrat, no matter what you try to tell people.......nice try.....

Well redsoxdad the joke is on you. You actually prove my point. Attack rather than discuss, accuse rather than do your research, call people liars without knowing what you are talking about. That is the McCain/Palin style and that is why I switched.
For your information, I have been a registered Republican since 1980. I was campaign manager for a candidate for governor in Massachusetts, Andrew Card. Ring a bell? No? Try Chief of Staff for George W. for 6 years. Of, did I mention I was field coordinator for Ray Shamie in his run against Ted Kennedy? I voted for George Sr. and George W., both terms and have voted for numerous Republican local candidates. I am still a registered Republican and you can check the records, Town of Somerville.
It is not that you are uneducated, you are ignorant. Before you get all upset at that word it means that you are "lacking information," not stupid.
I have no problem with patriotism, just your version of it. My country right or wrong has historically led to disaster. I am a firm supporter of the Constitution and all of the rights we hold dear-but I will not have someone tell me that being patriotic is blindly following anyone without examining what they really stand for-that is a recipe for disaster and the loss of liberty. I vote issues and candidates, not party dogma.
As I said, I did not choose who I would support until I watched the speeches, analyzed what was and was not said and made my choice. That is democracy, freedom to chose, the right to disagree without killing our opponents, the right to free speech without being called name

ran out of space---

by people who are unwilling to take the time to examine the issues and to think for themselves.
The fading beauty of this nation is that we used to be able to think on our own and to take responsibility for our actions. Being strong is not about weapons, it is about standing for what we believe, defending freedom, not trying to make everyone just like us and recognizing that strength comes from diversity of ideas and thoughts lest they become as stale bread not fit for the ants.

Well, I guess you put me in my place...LOL....I am glad you told me what ignorant meant, I did not know...And I was wondering who Andy Card was...Thanks for the info...It does not matter what you call yourself, and I am not defending Republicans ( I now call myself a Conservative)...We have two US Senators who call themselves Republicans, but they are simply wolves in sheep clothing.....As far as doing my research, I know what I believe and do research all the time....As far as researching your record, your record does not matter to me....Anyone who would vote for the Democratic ticket this year with Obama as Presedent, well, I question the agenda of that person....You can call yourself whatever you wish. (this is still a free country...for now). As far as examining issues and thinking for myself, I do just that...I, like yourself, do not just follow blindly and without questioning....I guess we just disagree and that is fine also.....Maybe I owe you an apology for the liar comment.....I just find it hard to believe that a Republican or Conservative could vote for Obama.....He will sell us out to the UN even more than we have already been sold out.....Ruin our military.....Pander to the world....(loved his address to the crowd in Germany.....did I hear the word "global" there?) As a gun owning, life NRA member, anti-abortion, strong military, desiring oil drilling here for OUR oil, I can take care of myself American, I will be voting for McCain/Palin.....And like me, I am sure you dont care what I think....So I apologize for calling you a liar, I just question your agenda.

Not a problem!!!
I have guns too.
I am an old fashioned conservative-whose roots are in conservation.
Oil is a lost cause-it is running out, that is not even questionable-there were only so many dinosaurs. If there was so much here, why didn't the oil companies already drill for it? Trust me, you will not see a drop of that oil.
Americans are under the delusion that we have all of this power. The real power is the global conglomerates who have pushed, under GOP leadership, the globalization of our economy which basically means moving jobs to China and India.
What is so great about this nation is that we can still disagree and not be jailed. Our rights are dwindling every day.
But something needs to change, and in my opinion, McCain will not bring that change. We have grown way to complacent and I feel it is time for a major shake-up.
So don't sweat the small stuff. Vote and let your voice be heard!!!!LOL
