Christmas Songs Best/Worst

I was just sitting in the office with my co-workers and we were discussing Christmas songs and some of our most and least favorites. Here's my best and worst. Feel free to add yours.

The Worst:

A Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney (This has to be THE most annoying song ever created. I actually get physically shakey and want to strangle someone when this one comes on.)

Runner Up For Worst:

Grandma got runover by a reindeer (I've never understood the appeal of this heartless song. When I was a kid, this song really bothered me.)

The Best:
O Holy Night (Just about any version will do. I'm not super duper religious but this is hands down one of the most powerful songs ever written. Gets me every time.)

Runner Up For Best:
Happy Xmas (War is Over) - Just a beautiful sentiment that seems all too appropriate when celebrating the birth of the Prince of Peace.

I have a bunch of holiday favorites, but I'd have to say "Silent Night", "Carol of the Bells", and "Baby it's cold outside" rank among the top....

As for the worst... I agree with "Grandma got runover by a reindeer"!! I've actually seen this idea being sold as a decoration in stores... how un-Christmasy and bizarre!

How about Elton John's "Step into Christmas"? This one's excruciating. I don't know why. Usually EJ's where it's at for me but please keep this piece of BLEEP off of my radio. Am I way off base or does this song kill Christmas?!

Well I would have to agree with you and the "O Holy Night" but "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" has always put a smile on my face.

I'm a fan of the "Little Drummer Boy" though, that song as always made things feel like Christmas for me. I've also liked "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"

Favorite X-mas song though...as cliche as it is for me..."I won't be home for X-mas" by Blink 182. I'll share the lyrics below...enjoy!!!
